Pollinator Patches

Merley Nature Group volunteers have managed to seed some little wildflower patches round Merley over the last few weeks. Hopefully there’ll be a few flowers this year and even more next year!

It’s a great time of year to do them, the sunnier area the better (RSPB Create a wildflower meadow link). They need watering for the first year. Alternatively, you can leave a shape of unmown grass in your lawn, sit back and watch the pollinators pop along (Wildlife Watch info sheet).

We are hoping to make these areas a little bigger over the next weeks also and we have some signs to pop in the ground to highlight these areas too so keep a look out.

Please note: We have been given the relevant permissions to carry out the activities by the land owners.
